As a religious Modern Orthodox, Zionist school, we excel in celebrating Israel. On Yom Ha’Atzmaut, one of the biggest days in the JLife calendar, we celebrate our love, dedication, and support for the State of Israel through a Religious Zionist lens by an extended Tefilla with Hallel, followed by a school-wide Tekes in which we thank Hashem for His miracles in providing us with the Modern State of Israel.
Although we might be one of the furthest countries from Israel, we are lucky enough to be one of the first to celebrate the country’s birthday each year! Students from Creche-Year 12 participate in programs catered specifically to their age group, centred around the celebration of their Religious Zionism.
Year 2 students will engage in Israel-themed arts and crafts activities, Year 10 will discuss the ‘Why?’ of our personal connection to Israel, and Year 12 students debate Israeli politics and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
As Yom Ha’Atzmaut falls out near the beginning of the school year, these celebrations fuel the students’ connection to Israel over the course of the year.
