Speech Night of 2024 was a truly memorable occasion that beautifully combined solemn reflection, inspiring speeches, and joyous celebrations. From the opening moments, the evening set a powerful tone, beginning with heartfelt prayers for the State of Israel, the Israel Defence Forces (IDF), and the hostages taken during recent tragic events. This solemn moment resonated deeply with the entire audience, reminding all present of the enduring strength of the Jewish people and the importance of coming together in times of hardship. The harmony in the voices of the school choir during these prayers was both moving and beautiful, encapsulating the deep sense of unity and hope that permeated the evening.

Rabbi Alan Kimche’s Dvar Torah was another highlight of the night, inspiring those in attendance with his thoughtful words. His address touched on themes of resilience and the importance of faith, particularly in challenging times. Rabbi Kimche’s reflection on Jewish perseverance and the strength that comes from maintaining faith during adversity was a timely and uplifting message for the entire school community.

The evening continued with a series of videos that showcased the essence of the school year. These videos provided a vibrant snapshot of the wide variety of activities that students had participated in throughout the year—academic accomplishments, community service projects, sporting events, and cultural celebrations. The videos captured not only the diverse experiences of the students but also the spirit of collaboration and achievement that defines the school community.

One of the most poignant moments came when College Principal Shula Lazar took to the stage. In a world still marked by challenges and adversity, Morah Shula encouraged the students to draw strength from the heroes of the past and continue their work towards justice and peace.

The evening was also filled with stunning musical performances. Both instrumental and vocal music items were performed by talented students, filling the hall with beautiful Jewish melodies. The performances demonstrated the exceptional musical abilities of the students, who delivered each piece with emotion and skill. The choir’s harmonies, the solo performances, and the instrumental ensembles all added a sense of depth and joy to the evening, highlighting the incredible talent within the school.

The awards ceremony recognized students for their outstanding achievements in various fields, including academic studies, social action, leadership, and Chessed (acts of kindness). These awards served as a reminder of the diverse strengths and accomplishments of the students, each of whom made meaningful contributions to the school community. The recognition of their hard work and dedication was inspiring and underscored the importance of striving for excellence in all areas of life.

Throughout the evening, the College Captains and primary leaders ensured that the program ran smoothly, providing valuable insights into the various presentations and helping to create a seamless flow. Their leadership and poise were a testament to the values of responsibility and service that are emphasized at the school.
