Yavneh Foundation

Help support the young Jewish minds of tomorrow

With your help, the Yavneh Foundation will be able to continue to enhance and enrich the intellectual and spiritual educational experience for all Yavneh students.

Established in 1999, the Yavneh Foundation was set up to help reinforce the physical foundations which support the development of the intellectual and spiritual education of a Torah-loving, not just a Torah-observing student. A student that is proud of their heritage, can defend it and Israel and can apply this in a modern context.

The Foundation supports the College in the implementation of its long-term goals. It is the body responsible for major fundraising for the College and encourages significant donations for capital projects and programs that are of direct benefit to Yavneh students.

Our Yavneh Family is a small & tight-knit one and the generosity of our community is remarkable. Our Foundation seeks to build on this renowned community culture of philanthropy to secure the future success of the College. Harnessing this generosity guarantees the future of Leibler Yavneh College and ensures the opportunities afforded by a Yavneh education can be enjoyed by generations to come.

If you would like to support our community and contribute to building a stronger Leibler Yavneh College for the future, please contact Tanya Shaltiel at t.shaltiel@yavneh.vic.edu.au (Executive Director, Yavneh Foundation).

Over the years, the Yavneh Foundation has unwaveringly renewed its commitment and contributions to ongoing projects at the College:

2023 Israel Appeal & Giving Day

The Yavneh Foundation intended to launch our annual appeal to raise much needed funds for programs and projects at the school. However, given the financial urgency to support Israel, we delayed our appeal to focus on the immediate financial needs of our Chayalim and families in Israel.

During this difficult and dark time for Am Yisrael, we are filled with immense gratitude and pride at the way in which our Yavneh family has rallied together in solidarity with and support of our brothers and sisters in Israel with incredible expressions of unity and compassion. We have come together as a community, extending our hands and shoulders to provide support and comfort to one another.

We take this opportunity to thank ESS Security together with CSG and PSG volunteers for their countless hours and dedication in protecting our school and community.

2022 VCE Study Project Appeal

In November 2022, the Yavneh Foundation held its annual appeal to raise funds for a new VCE Study Center. Leibler Yavneh College’s outstanding VCE Program requires a study space to support and match our academic excellence.

The newly built space comprises of both a quiet area for independent study as well as three break-out rooms which can be used for individual teacher/student tutorials and small study groups. The space has been built in close proximity to the offices of our Director of Teaching and Learning, Academic Administrator, VCE Co-ordinator and Careers Adviser.

We thank all our matchers, donors, parent and student volunteers. Your support, commitment and generosity has allowed us to raise over $450,000 to provide our VCE students with the proper space and environment to help them achieve their personal educational goals.

2021 Building Strong Foundations Appeal

It was somewhat different being in lockdown for our 2021 Appeal, however, we could still feel a sense of strong community awaiting the opportunity to contribute to the growth of our College.

The Building Strong Foundations Appeal allowed us to continue our journey to EXCITE our students, IMMERSING them in engaging and transformational informal learning EXPERIENCES to complement the traditional classroom environment.

The Yavneh goal is to create future leaders that radiate their excitement and love of Judaism and Israel into our community and our schools. We aim to challenge their thinking by delivering thought-provoking programs delivered through a uniquely modern Orthodox and Zionist lens on topics that matter to them in this rapidly changing world. These programs will be delivered by outstanding educators, leading halachic figures and champions of industry, science and the arts.

We are so very grateful to our donors and we look forward to continuing to deliver our innovative J-Life Programs for our students. Over $250,000 was raised and we sincerely thank and acknowledge our “matchers” made up of current parents, grandparents and friends of the College.

Make Your Mark on 2020 Appeal

Our College was reinvigorating following the return to campus in Term 4. After such a challenging period, the YPO and Yavneh Foundation were excited to launch the ‘I love LYC’ Tile Installation & fundraiser to help our College continue to thrive.

We were once again delighted to have surpassed our goal and are thankful to our donors and Yavneh community for making this possible. It was lovely to see our students creating their amazing artwork for our tile installation which has been placed near the entrance of the College and has captured a moment in time, a part of Yavneh’s history!

This was an opportunity to be a part of a very unique project and ‘Make Your Mark on 2020’. Thank you for helping us build our bright future together.

The Yavneh Foundation “In Conversation” Series

Jeremy Leibler & Tammie Slade

Jeremy is a tremendous example of the positive impact that strong leaders can have through his powerful and effective advocacy for Israel and the Jewish community throughout this crisis.

We thank Tammie for facilitating an engaging conversation and for asking thought provoking questions to allow us to reflect and gain insight into the current situation both in Israel and Australia

Rabbi Lebens & Hillel Solomon

Rabbi Professor Lebens and Hillel explored the foundations and boundaries of Jewish belief, the integration of faith with a scientific worldview and the effective exploration of these ideas in an educational context.

The dialogue was rich, engaging and thought provoking. It was a wonderful showcase of the
Torah and Maddah ethos to which Yavneh aspires

Rabbi Danny Mirvis & Shula Lazar

The Yavneh Foundation hosted an intimate evening with Principal, Shula Lazar in conversation with Rabbi Danny Mirvis.  They discussed “Modern Orthodoxy, Religious Zionism and Securing the Jewish Future”.

It was an inspiring evening with a wonderful and thought-provoking discussion.   It also showcased some of our talented students singing songs from the 2023 musical, Les Misérables.
