05 May Yom HaZikaron Exhibition: The Story of Rav Avi z”l
This past week, students and members of the community experienced a meaningful exhibition in memory of Harav Avi Goldberg z”l — a father, teacher, soldier, and shaliach who dedicated his life to Am Yisrael, Eretz Yisrael, and Torat Yisrael.
Created by the Tzevet, the exhibition guided visitors through key stages of Rav Avi’s life — from his childhood in Katamon and his years at Himmelfarb, to his time as a shaliach in Memphis, his teaching in Jerusalem, and his final act of service during the war that began on October 7th. Through personal stories, music, realistic sets, and video, the exhibition invited participants not only to learn about Rav Avi’s journey, but to connect deeply with the values he lived by: love for Israel, a commitment to unity, and a strong sense of purpose.
Many shared that the experience helped them feel the loss in a more immediate and tangible way — a reminder of how real and personal his story is. One of the most moving moments was hearing directly from his wife, Rachel, alongside a live performance of “Halev Sheli.”
More than just a memorial, the exhibition offered a personal, human window into the meaning of Yom HaZikaron — grounding the day in real lives, real loss, and the responsibility we carry to continue their legacy with intention and heart.
